I saw this recipe from Heavenly Homemakers and had to give it a try. Instead of using peanut butter, I used freshly pressed almond butter from Ingles, and Gluten Free Rice Krispies cereal to make it gluten free. If you can't do brown rice, then you might want to try a different cereal. So many gluten free products are made with brown rice, so always check the ingredients for details.
If you want to make them gluten free, you can still use the regular rice crispy treat recipe that uses marshmallows. However, if you want to get away from corn syrup this recipe provides a much better alternative.
These Healthy Rice Crispy Treats were a cinch to make and they hardly took anytime. The only thing I would recommend is putting them in the refrigerator. It will help them harden up a little more than just keeping them out on the counter for kids. Go to the Heavenly Homemakers website for recipe details.
